Yes we did!
There comes a time in every person's life when they have to make the monumental effort to purchase their first home. Yeah, we both did that like a long time ago. Turns out, second go around you can go a helluva lot faster, and that's precisely what we did.
Typical to our ways, we found a house using absolutely none of the normal metrics. We didn't fuss over the school districts, the taxes, what amenities were nearby, commuting time to places of employment; none of those things were considered. What we did do, was find a place that looked pretty and had a massive abandoned building beside it with some truly inspired graffiti.
What we found was a place here, in Highland Park, with over a hundred years of history behind it and (considering its fresh new owners) probably about a hundred more years of considerably more deranged memory-making ahead of it.
Other January activities included a quick flight to Texas to visit family, Decker engaging in freelance editing for a retired automotive exec, and Larrea helping design and launch a website to support racially diverse young farmers.
