Yes we did!
In addition to carving out some of our budget for feeding stray cats, we also spent a lot of money on furniture for the new house. Larrea got her very first gaming computer (which we still use to shoot bugs almost every day), Decker ate a really good bagel, and Larrea went on a trip to Arizona to visit coworkers and sing karaoke.
We also got to try the restaurant across the street from our house for the very first time! Woodward Bistro is an interesting establishment, being one of the only non-fast food restaurants in the entire city and located in a strip mall next to a liqueur store. It was started by a man named Desmond who owned and operated a successful bar and grill in Detroit proper. Many of his favorite customers were from Highland Park, and often lamented not having any decent food nearby, so he decided to take a chance, make an investment, and open Woodward Bistro. They proudly serve all freshly prepared food, with everything made in their own kitchen right down to the sauces, and it's all super tasty! Like many aspects of Highland Park, a somewhat dreary exterior turned out to be hiding a real gem underneath.
